Once you and your doctor decide that the CoaguChek® System for ProThrombin Time Self-Testing (PST) is appropriate to assist in the monitoring of your Coumadin® (warfarin sodium) therapy and the proper forms are submitted for the purchase of your monitor, you will undergo a comprehensive training program that will teach you how too use the system with a high level of confidence.
Many insurance companies will pay for home PT/INR testing. In fact, Medicare will cover home monitoring for anticoagulation management for patients with mechanical heart valves.
